August 25Aug 25 A new Federally Qualified Health Center is coming to Chemung County. According to county legislatures, it will service everyone. The Federally Qualified Health Center is a community-based health care system that provides primary care and other supportive services to underserved communities. The Chautauqua Center went to the county to expand its current facilities into Elmira. So, this will be a facility in Elmira, not an extension of the Chautauqua Center.Read more about it here.
August 25Aug 25 I had to check the date to make sure it was new. Last I knew from a couple of years ago, it was all screwed up because of a pissing match between Moss and the legislature. And the legislative chair wasn’t much help answering my questions about the situation. So I figured it was dead in the water.
August 25Aug 25 So...no timeline or details? Is it going into the same location that was planned 3-4 years ago, or someplace else? Local journalism strikes again. And they also don't seem to know the difference between county legislators and the Legislature that those people serve on.🙄
August 31Aug 31 Moss is once again raising questions about this:You'll have to view the entire video on his Facebook page, I am unable to get an embed to work on here.
August 31Aug 31 I would have to go dig this stuff up, which is not my strong point, but it seems like it was Moss who didn't like the Cayuga/Arnot connection. I know nothing about TCC really but the other two need a lot of work to fall into the quality care arena. The merger seems to have caused more problems than it solved.
August 31Aug 31 Yeah I don’t think that money would be well invested if given to Arnot/Centralus. The problem around here is when something like this comes up, the people who’ve dropped the ball already, who have screwed things up, are the ones invited to be on committee and whatnot to make decisions on the new endeavor. And the same cycle of incompetence and poss poor decision making continues.

I wish he wouldn't do these things via video because they go by too fast and no one has the patience to keep stopping them or backing up to re-read them, which may be his point I guess. He complains ARP funds ended up being spent out of the area but offered nothing that would have been a better alternative. He didn't last time either, just criticized the process. We have Arnot/Centralus which is a terrible option and apparently Guthrie wasn't an option (& is based out of PA). We need the facility and really don't have any options. September 1Sep 1 Isn't Centralus is headquartered in Ithaca? Why is Tomkins County good and Cattaraugus County bad?1 hour ago, Chris said:the people who’ve dropped the ball already, who have screwed things up, are the ones invited to be on committee and whatnot to make decisions on the new endeavor.Always.Check out the Boards of Directors of the organizations that advise and promote “economic growth” locally. They are comprised of community “leaders” whose primary qualifications are simply heading up the largest businesses and employers in the area. For decades, we’ve allowed the same generation "good ol boys" to drive policy for the county.
September 3Sep 3 My understanding is Dr. Surosky donated the Walnut Street building where his practice had been in (l think at the corner of Roe Ave).

Perhaps making use of St. Joe’s Hospital would have been a better idea. I do know that building does need quite a bit of work. Perhaps if Arnot hadn’t stripped it of equipment and let things go it would have been a better option.

Make a good setting for a Stephen King movie.

I go there for Gastroenterologist and there is always a problem with the elevators . I actually agree that St Josephs would be better suited for the type and amount of Services being offered . Sure there are some parts of the building in disrepair but still better suited than that “ old house “ of Dr Sarosky’s !
