Four Key Bills Questions Facing McDermott During Bye Week

Featured Replies

ATLANTA — The Buffalo Bills have two weeks to figure out what’s gone terribly wrong to cause a two-game losing streak after a red-hot 4-0 start to the 2025 season.

The bye week has to be a truth-seeking mission for Bills coach Sean McDermott.

The Falcons roughed up Buffalo on both sides of the ball at the line of scrimmage. Josh Allen was pressured on 44% of his dropbacks - the highest mark in a game this season, according to Next Gen Stats. Allen wasn’t pressured more than 30% in a game all year before Monday night.

The Bills’ defense gave up the most yards (335) in the first half of a game since 2001. The offense managed just two touchdowns on 11 possessions in a game where Josh Allen threw two interceptions. After not losing the turnover battle in 25 consecutive games dating back to 2023, the Bills have now come up on the wrong end of the turnover battle in successive games.

“We’re on the bye now, we’ve got to look at it,” McDermott said. “We’ll spend a lot of time looking at this thing and figure out what’s going on and fixing it.”

What do the Bills have to do to address what’s gone wrong the past two weeks? Here are four key questions that, if answered, could provide McDermott and the Bills with a path back to winning.

See those four things here.

What do you think Bills fans?

"Either the way the message is being delivered has to be altered, or the person giving it needs to change." I'm thinking at this point in the season, if the person responsible hasnt gotten that point, its time to put someone else in that will

Defense aside, Bills are too predictable in the play calling, along with something is making Allen squirrely, hes throwing passes he has no business considering

At first I thought perhaps he was injured the other night and was trying not to let it show. So far there's been no indication that is the case, thank God.

Honestly, I think he's tired of some of the B.S. too. He's a good guy, very humble, and puts all the blame on himself for each loss. Always says, "I need to do better" despite being arguably the best there is. Usually he keeps his cool but you can see he was more pissed off than usual Sunday night. I'm sure that got in his head and affected his performance. I can't help but wonder if Joe Brady is calling these dumb ass plays and Josh, perhaps disagrees but is trying to be the team player, is tired of seeing them fail. Pulling Cook on 3rd and 1 to try a sneak handoff to Samuel, the same damned play THAT THEY FUMBLED THE WEEK BEFORE was absolutely idiotic. Cook would have gotten first down, no doubt.

Yeah they have a lot of injuries but they have bigger problems as well. And they can only rely on Josh being Superman so many times. The poor guy's back must hurt from carrying the entire team. Meanwhile, they are absolutely wasting his best years and it's criminal.
