No takebacks: Democrats try to enforce McMahon's accident...

McMahon sent an email to legislature Democrats with a signed adoption document but later tried to send Democrats a signed veto.

Apparently we're not the only ones with friction in county government.

Durr blamed himself for the mistake, saying he had told McMahon to sign all the documents in a folder that included both the adoption and the veto.

So the county exec just blindly signs whatever is put in front of him without reading it first? Maybe they need term limits after all.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Technically you could argue the approval stands I guess.

The Legislature (and their outside counsel) are arguing that it stands and sent it to the BOE to place the referendum on the ballot.

Th Exec, County Attorney and the election commissioner for his party......are saying "no". They want the veto recognized and believe the courts will "obviously understand" that it was a mistake.

Sure....because obviously the Courts would understand and give you or me a do-over if admitted that we signed a legal document without reading it.

The whole situation just smacks of the reason why term limits are needed. If you can't get signing a paper correct then perhaps you are screwing up more important things in the job.

If the courts allow his do-iver veto to stand....I hope a few legislators more step up so there's enough votes to override the veto.
