September 30, 2025Sep 30 Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that happened earlier today in Schuyler County. At approximately 11:46 a.m., the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on County Road # 1 in the Town of Hector, NY.Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2010 Ford Fusion that failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck some trees. The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Michael Blake of Ithaca New York was taken by helicopter to Upstate Medical for treatment of his injuries. A passenger, 17-year-old Marcus Knight, of Trumansburg was pronounced deceased at the scene.The Schuyler County Coroner’s Office, Trumansburg Fire Department, Enfield Fire Department, Trumansburg Ambulance, and New York State Police accident reconstruction responded to assist at the scene.The incident remains under investigation by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
