June 9Jun 9 The New York State Police in Painted Post arrested a Corning man following an investigation into a reported menacing incident in the town of Lindley. New York State Police say on June 2, 2026, at approximately 2:13 p.m., State Police from Painted Post responded to River Road in Lindley for a report of a dispute involving a weapon. The investigation determined that a verbal altercation occurred between family members. During the incident, the suspect allegedly displayed a hammer and threatened the victim, causing the victim to fear physical injury. Troopers recovered a metal hammer from the property and secured it as evidence. As a result of the investigation, 28 year old Calyx Angelo Estep of Corning was arrested and charged with:Menacing 2nd degree (A misdemeanor)Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree – Previous Conviction (D felony) Estep was transported to the Painted Post barracks for processing before being taken to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.
