May 22May 22 On Sunday while monitoring traffic at the Dandy located on Spring Street in Sayre, a Sayre Police officer noticed an individual in a truck who he described as actiing evasive and seemed bothered by police presence. When the officer ran the truck's registration, it came back to someone associated with 41 year old William J. Champluvier of Elmira. The officer further discovered that Champluvier was wanted on a warrant for burglary charges in Chemung County. When the officer approached him, Champluvier fled to the truck he was driving and got inside. Believing that he was reaching for something dangerous, the officer drew his weapon and ordered Champluvier out of the vehicle and on to the ground, which he did without further resistance. Other area police arrived to assis tand when a search of the truck was done, police found methamphetamine, smoking devices and other narcotics paraphernalia.Champluvier was taken to the Sayre Police station. There he was charged with one count each of resisting arrest, intentional possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license is suspended or revoked. He was remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail and awaits extradition to New York.
