Forgotten Restaurants From The 1970's We Want Back!

Featured Replies

After watching that incredibly too long video I would have to say there are only 3 I don't recognize from around here. Steak and Ale, Shakeys and Burger Chef. I moved here in 1977 so that could be why

I miss Morretti’s, they made the most delicious burger on toasted Italian bread.

Can you think of any other restaurants or even local businesses from the 1970's or 80's that you want back?

As far as “local” businesses goes, I’d have to think on that a little.

Wait… Pizza Pick Up. I miss that.

The first store that popped into my mind was Hills. Although honestly I’d be happy with any of the old department stores like KMart, Sears, etc. Hell, bring them all back.

Yep it was. Seems to me there was a Ground Round as well but if so I don’t recall where.

I feel like it was down where Applebees is now

I don't recall Ground Round....but I thought that spot was The Rusty Nail before it was Hannibal's (and then briefly a bar with a volleyball pit right before Applebee's came along)

Howard Johnson's stayed a long time before Friendly's took it over.

And I was only five....but I'm certain I remember a Red Barn on the Southside when I lived here around the 1972 flood. It was gone by the time I moved back in the mid-80s.

My spelling is probably wrong but Myhalik’s used to be across from where Lincare is now.

It was on the corner of Magee and Woodlawn Ave. I don't know if LIncare is down there or not. Been a minute since I took that route anywhere.

Spent many, many a night dancing away at Myhaliks. When I do drive by it's hard to picture that big ol club on that little lot that is there now.

I think the same thing every time we drive by and I see that empty lot.
