Watching a new TV show, or one that's new to you at least, that you'd like to talk about?

Let's have an open topic about the shows we're watching and enjoying!

I’m enjoying the new show “Marshals” on CBS. One of the main characters is Casey Dutton and other characters from Yellowstone. There are snippets of that storyline included in the show. I’m also a big fan of all of the NCIS shows.

We just finished season four of Dark Winds on AMC and are happy to know they're making a fifth season.

It's based on the novels by Tony Hillerman. I've read one of them and it was pretty good, but watching it on TV is a little better. Here's the trailer for Season 1:

We're slowly working our way through season two of Landman. I really love the show and Billy Bob Thornton is great in it. The only problem I have with it is that I don't think Taylor Sheridan knows how to write female characters, particularly "Tommy's" wife and daughter. They're so one dimensional and vapid it's not only unbelievable it makes you absolutely hate them. Which, maybe you're supposed to, I don't know.

Not sure how I feel about Marshals. I watched a couple of episides but switched to The Madison which is really good.

They are but mama is smart. She plays the dumb blonde wife but on occasion her brainy side is exposed. I think her character is going to come out more in the next season.

The daughter though - yea spoiled brat but I feel they are going to do something with her too. In fact, the gay room mate I totally think is going to be involved with the daughter some where down the road.

We're catching up on Maul: Shadow Lord on Disney+. Unfortunately the season finale has been ruined for me, but we'll finish it tonight.

The animation on this is a little wonky compared to The Clone Wars but the story is great.

We finally watched the last episode of Landman and damn, that was a good season finale.

We’re currently watching The Dutton Ranch, Rip, Beth and Carter, and it’s a really good show. There are some really good characters.

Eh, it's alright. It's not quite as good as the other shows. One thing I will say for Taylor Sheridan, he sure makes Texas look like the kind of place I'd like to live.

I was about to tap out until it got to the issue with the herd, which caught my attention. Episode 4 was a doozy and showed a part of Rip we haven't seen before, which I thought was good.

I could do without the whole Carter and blonde chick timeline. I don't see where it's moving the story along much at all right now. Maybe it will, we'll see.

I agree with you about Carter and the blonde. We missed episode 4 as it didn’t record. I hope I found it for tonight.

saw LAw & Order season 21,22 on netflix, more of a fan of the older ones but figured id give it a go. Meh, bit too preachy, so likely will Plex the older seasons for some eye-bleach.'watched Good Omens season 3, good series there

if no one has, id suggest Shogun from Fx, there IS a season 3 in the works

Shogun was absolutely incredible. It proves that there’s good stories left to be told on the screen, big or small.

I've seen that NBC has been running something a little different on Thursday nights and I like it.

The first show at 8pm is "Surviving Earth" which is an hour long mini-series about prehistoric animals and how they adapted ( or didn't adapt ) to changes iin the Earth's climate.

This is followed by The Americas which is a good old fashioned nature show. I believe it aired earlier this year already.

It's a refreshing change from stale sitcom tropes and "reality" TV. NBC can continue with this kind of quality programming all the time as far as I'm concerend!

There wasn’t much on tonight but then I suddenly remembered we have the Pluto app. Suddenly it’s a question of what do we watch, there’s so many options.

I settled on Frasier, which is every bit of funny as it was when it originally aired. There’s a whole channel devoted to that, Cheers, Star Trek: The Next Generation and much more.

I'm not a big TV watcher. Dave puts the hunting or car shows on but I could care less if it is on or not.

When I do watch I tend to go to the real crime type stories and documentaries.

I am a big NCIS fan and will watch all shows, even re-runs.

I’ve gotten into the habit of having the TV tuned throughout the day to shows without detailed plots just for “background noise”. Things I can peripherally follow while my attention is on household stuff. Lately it’s been History and Discovery shows. Sometimes Johhny Carson or old game shows, or sitcom reruns.

After dinner, I might decide to watch something with a full story/plot. That seems to be more movies because I prefer to have some closure when I’m done watching....and too many dramatic TV series don’t have episodes with full stories anymore.  

 

I’ve heard good things about Yellowstone and its various spinoffs.....but I don’t have much interest in perpetual soap opera storylines that end with unresolved cliffhangers.

I preferred the traditional format, where each episode had a complete story and conclusion. That’s why NCIS is one of the few 21^st Century TV series that I enjoy....even when a “story arc” runs through a season, the individual episodes still have a cohesive plot.
