A quick scroll through their socials shows that they both have ample time to attend multiple events every single week and collect campaign photos.

If either one of them wanted to offer any real insight into why they deserve our votes, they would dedicate a fraction of that time for Town Hall gatherings.

Yes THIS !

And perhaps do them at least quarterly once in office.

I will say that Chris Moss has attended events during his entire tenure. I went to the Dairy Ambassador ceremony a couple years ago and Moss and Schrom both showed up. For Margeson I never saw him anywhere until he was running for the CE position.

One of the major issues you see on social media about moss is how much he is paid. I have yet to see Margeson say he will take a pay cut or what he will do.

Moss is a consummate politician; of course he shows up to the functions, its an easy way to pander for future votes.

neither is a great choice, but in the end, Moss has shown himself to not be a good leader for the County, interested in what benefits HIM first he has also shown his true colors with all the mudslinging and BS one laments seeing in DC...enough is enough, its time for a change

Have you really seen any county legislators appearing at any events other than randomly in their own districts? Mark still isn't out there going to "all" the events, but he is attending things he has helped build, supports and is trying to support. I often wonder why Moss never shows up anywhere when Margeson is there. I wonder if they swap calendars. lol. I can only think of two events they both were at, and not at the same time. One posed for photos and one went around and talked to people. I was at both of them.

Do you see the dates on these emails? Once again hard to catch because this goes by so fast and you have to pause to catch things. They are all 2021-2024 when Azzarelli was still part of the County Govt. There is nothing new.

Agreed. If the damn documents are so important, then post them in PDF form where constituents can clearly read them.

I’d hoped there wouldn’t be a lot of mud-slinging, but I should have known better.

This is really petty. Honestly, I don’t see the point of it other than desperation. Honestly, it’s reminiscent of those smear campaigns by the Lyons and Laury team against Moss when he was sheriff.

At this point, it looks like Mortimer J. Snerd may get a write in vote for county executive.

When I don’t like any Candidate on a Ballot I will write in the name of someone I trust 100%. Someone who has common sense, knows how to manage a budget, and I trust completely to be honest and knows how to actually listen. ME! I have been in Presidential elections, Gubernatorial elections, Local elections, etc. I have never won but I have always voted.

It really is petty. It's also done in his typical style of posting things that are irrelevant or old and yesterdays news and leave it up just long enough for people to see the headlines and I'm willing to bet money, that post disappears.

It was also very unprofessionally done. There's misspellings in the actual post and the grammar itself is very poor. Don't know who the "campaign" manager is he speaks of from time to time, but if this is their work then it's not helping him.

This made me chuckle. 3 terms in office and I don't recall him ever doing a Town Hall.

After nearly eight years, Moss has pretty much answered all my questions with his track record. I'd be a whole lot more interested in some Town Halls (and at least one [preferably 2] debate) with Margeson to hear reasons why he'd be a better choice than Moss.

During his first term as a 'freshman' legislator, I liked some things Mark said/did. He spoke up against pay raises and in support of more community/public input and engagement. When he was suggested as a write-in for 2022.....I was happy to oblige.

But his second legislative term (chairing the Body, and as IDA chair)......his agenda, policies and actions were less encouraging (and even concerning at times). At this point, there hasn't been any compelling argument for me that challenger will be any better than the incumbent. I know a few people I trust/respect support Margeson. But I haven't been privileged to have a 1-1 relationship they have with him.

So, without hearing some direct dialogue and answers myself before November, I'm prepared to write in Ann for County Exec.

I would be honored to receive your trust and vote.

Has anyone else seen the posts spreading around Fecesbook by Elmira mayoral candidate Julian Raven today? He's using that crash on Baldwin St. yesterday to tell the world how he "helped" and the media isn't telling the whole story, complete with his own "news article" written in the third person. Oh and in the middle of all his heroics he made sure to take a picture of the poor guy laying on the street.

Let me tell you something about real heroes, Jules. They don't tell the world what they do on a daily basis, every day. They don't talk about it on social media. They don't demand that the local media tell their story. They just kinda do their job and shy away from self-aggrandizing behavior.

They also don't speak of themselves in the third person.

Honest to God, I would buy one square foot of property in Elmira if only to be able to vote against this guy.

I saw this guy on 18 News last night talking about the crash, blood coming out of the guy’s mouth and how he did CPR anyway. I wasn’t sure who he was. Thanks for the info because while he was being interviewed I thought “what an Ass”.

I wouldn’t worry about buying any property in Elmira just to vote against him, I don’t think he has a Snowball’s chance in Hell of winning.

I saw the post and the picture. Very poor taste to say the least and he's going on about trying to find out more info. I told him it's not his business. lol

He is a nutjob. Someone said he lived way out on County Rte 60 and not in the city. Do you have to live within city limits to be the Mayor? No clue on that. I though that was Town of Elmira and leaning towards Town of Chemung even.

In other news. I saw this on Margeson page. Was a bit surprised to tell you the truth.

Yeah, that’s putting it nicely.

Remember years ago when he gave City Hall a painting and an apology for his conduct during the Pride event incident? I guess that apology came with an expiration date.

what does one do when, after 8 years of nothing changing, finding that your town, after covering a 170k obligation for october through february, will be left with 80k in savings? you further witness them nearly spending another 60k to put down on a used plow truck because one of 2 no longer passes inspection. Further, of a three man crew, one is going to another township to work, and the highway super up and decided to announce his retirement AFTER they almost spent money they dont have for a truck they would not need anyway?

firstly, i digested that whole circle-jerk, then reached out to Rodney Strange for contacts, which he provided promptly, i ended up getting a reply from the County Exec, explained to him the issue and if there was any way The County could assist at least until Spring when hopefully some fresh direction can be had? he was out here the following day speaking with the Highway Supe and put him in contact with the Highway Commissioner so with luck that will see Town roads secured. between that and asking Exec about a supposed promise a few months back for money to replace an ac unit in the Town Hall i decided eff-it ive got ideas that could help and if not, the town will need to dissolve so what can it hurt to try?

We have a 550k highway budget for 35 miles of Town roads, seems amazing to have so little and actually spending more than we have in revenues but Baldwin has done it 8 years running at least.

not getting hopes up BUT in the contacts ive made so far, there are many that have said theyll vote for me, even when i tell them that its going to take some further austerity, possibly giving over road maintenance to the COunty for a fee, a reassessment of properties in the Town (oddly enough, our assessor told me she does Ashland and they are looking to reassess theirs so a possible savings in cost could be had) the books will need an external review and we need to come into 21st century and track our business like the other towns do...if theres no stomach for this from the Board or the public then really only option is to hold vote to dissolve town charter and be absorbed by one of the surrounding towns...guess well see November

Not particularly "local" but still pertinent:

Commercial television station and news outlet WETM hosted a debate for the candidates in the 23rd Congressional District (NY23) race on Tuesday.

The Nexstar Media Group station held the debate in the Elmira studios and simultaneously broadcast the event on Nexstar’s Buffalo station WIVB.

Two-term incumbent Republican and Conservative Party candidate Nick Langworthy and newcomer Democratic Party and Working Families Party candidate Aaron Gies discussed many topics during the live debate.

Langworthy and Gies answered questions on topics ranging from the economy and energy costs to the war in Iran, immigration and data centers.

The two agreed in some areas, such as social media accountability and redistricting.

But they disagreed on renewable energy and cuts to Medicaid, among other topics.

The debate is the only confirmed scheduled debate for the two candidates.

It's our district and both their signs are up all over the county so I would call it local.

The thread title is “Chemung County” and was initially just for county races. But it is pertinent to Chemung County so I included it here.

That’s all I meant. I don’t want it to go into more state and national politics.
