I see on social media today that Rodney Strange has endorsed Moss for county executive.

Which is kind of interesting because if I recall correctly, in the past he’s refrained from endorsing anyone until after the primary and a candidate declared for the party.

hes helped alot over the years with questions and suggestions but this one really gets me, with all the stonewalling and non cooperation the Exec has shown towards the Legislature over the years, this one is surprising

I'm not surprised at all. He's supported Moss a lot over the years and when I heard that two or three of the 15 (?) legislators did not support the 30 year pilot (although they had no up front say in it) I was pretty sure he was one of them. Noticed Moss reposted it instantly as if it were planned. Something is off there for sure and I believe it will come to light soon.

For the record I have no problem with who he chooses to support or endorse, I just don’t recall him ever doing so in a primary before, preferring to let the party choose the candidate first. Maybe that’s because he was in a party leadership position though, I don’t remember.

Good point about his past role in within the party. That had completely slipped my mind.

I have no problem with anyone endorsing whomever they choose either. Both he and Lawana have been professional in their endorsements and respectfully stating their reasons.

Neither has engaged in the 'mud slinging' or inflammatory accusations and rumors, etc. .....And even though I would personally find these approaches distasteful and unpersuasive, either of them would still be fully within their 1A rights to do so. LOL

Mine too, it’d only occurred to me when I made the above post.

And like you, I have no problem with whoever endorsing who they want, particularly, as you point out, it’s done respectfully. Which Rodney and Lawana have both been great examples of.

Honestly, I never even heard of Donovan before. He was a result of redistricting over here in Erin's old district 5 and no one knew for sure if he was even going to run again.

Do they do mail in ballots for primaries? Guess they will have to wait til all those are counted for the real close ones.

Donovan owns the auto garage over on Robert’s Hollow Rd. He was appointed to replace Brian Hyland. I don’t know him, but he seemed like a pretty good guy whenever I contacted him.

If one could invest in mud like the stock market, now would be a good time. I expect a LOT of it to start flying.

Yes.

Absentee ballots need to postmarked on or before the primary date. But they're only sent by request, and the BOE tracks who gets them and when they're returned. They should know how many are in and have been counted or still left to count and how many outstanding votes, etc.

Yep, for most just show up to meetings, sit there and do nothing, go home and collect your monthly paycheck.

I'd never heard of Wieder. LOL. Is he from the "new" Erin side of D6?

I knew Donovon's late wife and her kids...and he seems like an honest hardworking type. Maybe doesn't strike me as someone willing speak out and shake things up and take heat like Lawana, but a sincere enough fella.

I'm curious what happens if it's still a tie after the final absentee ballots are in. Do they hold a second primary vote or does the local RNC anoint the one with the most connections within the party?

Yeah. I don’t know him well but he’s a good guy. I think he’d do well as our legislator, not that Donovan hasn’t.

Kyle has been our town Justice for years. He used to work for Moss (and appears to still be best buds) but is now a director of something for the City of Corning. I've known him since forever and went to school with his mom. He would do a very good job but I feel just might be another Moss yes man.

It seems like this is worded a bit ambiguously.

It was 6,564 out of 37,700 eligible voters who participated....not "4,000 out of 50,000".

There were 4,468 Republican votes and 2,096 Democratic votes.

There are registered 55,624 voters in the County:

Only 40% (22,420) are Republicans and 27% (15,280) are Dems. Another 32% (17,924) are not eligible to vote in either primary.

With the 6th legislative district in a dead tie, election workers still have much to do in the coming days. Joseph Donovan and Kyle Wieder are locked at 169 votes each, a single write-in vote was also cast.

“We have eight affidavit ballots with provisional ballots that were done on Election Day. They have to be investigated to decide whether or not they're countable or not. and we have one absentee ballot that hasn't been counted yet so there are some still numbers out there to count the machines will be re-canvassed. when all is said and done if the if the race comes out to be less than five percent or 20 votes then we have to do a manual recount,” added Collins.

What happens if the tie still stands after these measures? Republican Deputy Commissioner Marcy Thomas weighed in on the matter, “We would call the New York State Board, and we would get more direction from them.”

I caught that as well. I wish he had been a little more humble and at least acknowledged the other guy. It would have made him look a bit better.

Agree about the Dems and Independents. Especially the Dems. They have no dog in this fight this year and seem to really dislike Moss, When I see Dems outright supporting Margeson it really speaks volumns.

He may be thinking his time and resources will be better spent making decisions/plans for either future employment or retirement.

Mark still has a successful business, no matter how this race was going to turn out. But even if he thinks he has a 50/50 shot, that's a 50% chance that Moss will have no job for the first time ever.
