Owego resident Jim King has announced his intention to challenge Rep. Nick Langworthy for New York’s 23rd Congressional District Seat.

King, a self-described moderate Republican, says Langworthy is a follower and not a leader. He went on to saY that the Congressman is following a path that goes against traditional Republican values.

“Traditional Republican believes that the objectives of government are to provide a fair market place, a safe community, and a stable future.

Nick is doing nothing for a fair market place.  He obediently supports the President’s wild tariff plans and simply nods in agreement when Trump calls "affordability" a "Democratic hoax."

Look at what you pay today for groceries, gasoline, utilities, housing, or medical care. It's not a hoax.

Nick does not even question thuggish warrantless ICE raids or a law-bending Justice Department acting as a bully’s tool.

What Nick has done is destabilize our future and reduced opportunity.  He voted for an irresponsible $3 trillion increase in the national debt.  It's $4.2 trillion when you add interest.  Putting that in perspective, approximately 25 cents of your 2025 income tax dollar will go towards paying interest on the current national debt.  Thanks to Nick, this increases to about 30 cents in 2026, and 35 cents in 2027.  That is not how a traditional Republican behaves.

As for opportunity, Nick applauds the dismantling of opportunity enhancing government agencies, programs, and services.”

King says that his own modest upbringing, employment history, management experience, and volunteer first responder service has equipped him to address the challenges the country faces.
