January 1Jan 1 I've made a few changes to the site as planned.1) 20th Century Nostalgia didn't have enough to warrant it's own category on the front page. So I've moved it and it's now a sub-forum under Pop Culture2) "We Love Christmas," while nice, is time consuming to keep updated for a limited amount of overall interest. So it'll make an appearance seasonally. Same will apply for the Bills Mafia category, which will disappear after the Super Bowl and likely return when Training Camp starts up.3) "Twin Tiers Memories" is also somewhat time consuming to keep updated with fresh content that hasn't already been seen here or isn't already available everywhere on social meida.4) As you can obviously see, I've created a new sub-furom for Website News in order to keep members and guests appraised of what's going on here at the site.IMPORTANT: If anyone has suggestions for new categories, I'm all ears. For aesthetic reasons, I'd like to reveal new categories in groups of three if at all possible.
January 10Jan 10 Author Are you guys seeing the “20th Century Nostalgia” section since I moved it as a sub-category?
Tuesday at 02:25 PM5 days Some of you are already aware of this, but for those who aren't, we were gone for a little while but over the past several weeks I made the decision to keep the lights on after all. However I needed to make some changes to ensure I'm not glued to the computer desk for hours at a time, every day. If you're a long time visitor, you'll see there's been some changes made to the site:No Sunday Columns section. While it was always the thing that made this place unique, it was also time consuming on the weekends. No Community Calendar.Local and Regional news only. You'll see I've already removed the "Current Events" section among several others.Continued emphasis on lifestyle and fun topics as well. Let's just have fun with it. However you'll see I've done away with all of the meme forums like the 20th Century Nostalgia. Posting those pics all the time uses up space and wasn't really working for me. We can revisit that somehow needs be, but I don't think it got much traction.Less emphasis on trying to be a "news" website. I simply can't compete with social media. To that last point, we'll still run some news stories, even if it's sharing them from other area news sources ( with full attribution and adherance to Fair Use policies, unlike other online platforms ).I've added a Rants and Raves section as well, to be used similarly as the former "Reviews" section. Try to give a little grace when you can and avoid "call out" posts if someone cuts you off in traffic, parks crooked, etc.As always, if someone has an idea for the site, I encourage you to let me know. If the platform allows it, and it adheres to the site's mission, we'll try it.If you see something that you think would be of interest to the site members, by all means post it.While I will occasionally post links to social media, my goal is torely on that as little as possible. So please, be sure to stop by the site often. If there's a topic you're particularly interested in, be sure to click the "follow" button and you'll get an email notification when someone responds:Any questions about how to use the site, please, don't hesitate to ask!
Thursday at 12:54 AM4 days Author Okay, by request, the entire "Chemung County Memories" section will be brought back on. I'll do my best to keep it interesting and current. Maybe a weekly photo dump or something. As with everything else, I'm open to ideas!
16 hours ago16 hr For the time being, we'll stop doing the weekly "We Want To Know..." because it's not getting a lot of response.
