October 3Oct 3 This is an open ended chat thread for nostalgic memes and remembering random things from the past.
October 3Oct 3 A good arcade was superior to any gaming system on Earth today:I recall there was one in Grand Central Plaza. The one at Roseland Park in Canandaguia was really cool too.
October 4Oct 4 I have to say KMart. I loved going to that store with my eldest grandson, especially before Christmas. He loved the animated, musical toys and we’d go through that isle pressing all the buttons to see how they moved and listen to the music. Truthfully, I couldn’t resist pushing the buttons when I was shopping alone.
October 5Oct 5 I’m torn between Sears and KMart. Like, Sears was where you could get quality tools or light machinery under the once proud Craftsman name. But then KMart had a lot more for one stop shopping. I’m missing the GenX gene that causes a nostalgia for video stores. Far too often I’d go to get a movie and they’d be out of it. Having stuff available now on demand when you want to see it is too good to give up.
October 6Oct 6 This was on every Sunday night at our house followed by The Wonderful World of Disney.

October 7Oct 7 Author Here's a nostalgia one-two punch for you. Richard Scarry really knew how to tap into the autumn feels didn't he?
October 8Oct 8 I’n not so sure this was only $20 dollars worth of groceries in 1980 but what caught my eye was the size of the products in the cart. You don’t see that today.
October 9Oct 9 If you remember who Lady Elaine was, like me, you’ve celebrated quite a few birthdays 😂

October 9Oct 9 Still learning to navigate here so please bear with me lol . So , as a kid , all those years ago , living in the country you either hiked or biked your way around . So with a combination of both , lots of hills and all uphill lol , at age 12 I was allowed my first trip to town to the Elmira Theater . Exciting as it was I was on a limited budget from putting up hay for the neighbors and $1.50 didn’t go far even then . Well , all that exercise on the way home burned through that box of Raisonettes so I stopped at the our country store where my parents had an account picked up two Dolly Madison Pies , apple and cherry were my favs , put them on the tab and made my way home … Great day , yepper ! Um … until two days later when the Ole’ Man stopped in to pay up the tab ! Ya know , to this day I haven’t seen , nor do I look for , those delicious pies ! Could it be that I can still feel the sting of that leather belt on my a** … ahh , the Good Old Days LOL .

October 9Oct 9 K -Mart was better price wise , but hands down I miss Sears for clothing , and as mentioned tools .
October 10Oct 10 This was a once in a while treat in our home when our boys were little. Rent a couple movies and the VCR for the movies, order a pizza and it was a fun Friday or Saturday night. You had to be sure to rewind the movie before returning lol. Edited October 11Oct 11 by Chris Change DVR to VCR
October 11Oct 11 Who remembers making these phone calls? Another one was calling a store and asking “Do you have Prince Albert in a can”? They’d say yes and you’d tell them to let him out. Today’s kids would say that was lame but it was fun then.
October 12Oct 12 Obviously I wasn't there for this period, but it seems like it would have been a lot more interestig to go out to places where people weren't staring at their phones or one of a dozen televisions.
October 13Oct 13 I remember how you could smell food being cooked for lunch in the school cafeteria. The food was delicious and not pre-packaged and reheated.
