Random Nostalgia

I have to say KMart. I loved going to that store with my eldest grandson, especially before Christmas. He loved the animated, musical toys and we’d go through that isle pressing all the buttons to see how they moved and listen to the music. Truthfully, I couldn’t resist pushing the buttons when I was shopping alone.

I’m torn between Sears and KMart.

Like, Sears was where you could get quality tools or light machinery under the once proud Craftsman name.

But then KMart had a lot more for one stop shopping.

I’m missing the GenX gene that causes a nostalgia for video stores. Far too often I’d go to get a movie and they’d be out of it. Having stuff available now on demand when you want to see it is too good to give up.

This was on every Sunday night at our house followed by The Wonderful World of Disney.

Part of the Saturday morning line up for my boys when they were in grade school.

I’m not sure if this is still sold in grocery stores today.

I still watch the re-runs of this show though I prefer the pre-WW II episodes.

Still learning to navigate here so please bear with me lol .

So , as a kid , all those years ago , living in the country you either hiked or biked your way around . So with a combination of both , lots of hills and all uphill lol , at age 12 I was allowed my first trip to town to the Elmira Theater . Exciting as it was I was on a limited budget from putting up hay for the neighbors and $1.50 didn’t go far even then . Well , all that exercise on the way home burned through that box of Raisonettes so I stopped at the our country store where my parents had an account picked up two Dolly Madison Pies , apple and cherry were my favs , put them on the tab and made my way home … Great day , yepper ! Um … until two days later when the Ole’ Man stopped in to pay up the tab ! Ya know , to this day I haven’t seen , nor do I look for , those delicious pies ! Could it be that I can still feel the sting of that leather belt on my a** … ahh , the Good Old Days LOL .

Oh yes , the “ Peppermint Twist Monkey “ !

K -Mart was better price wise , but hands down I miss Sears for clothing , and as mentioned tools .

Obviously I wasn't there for this period, but it seems like it would have been a lot more interestig to go out to places where people weren't staring at their phones or one of a dozen televisions.

mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom!

Bring back Kmart - so often when our kids were little, that was where we found exactly what we wanted for so many things, and good prices too!

I’m pretty sure I had one of the yellow ones when I was in Kindergarten. The face paint stank if I recall correctly.
