July 11Jul 11 It’s so difficult to cut through the social media noise and find out what is actually going on there. From what I can ascertain, one of the partners sold his share of the business and it appears as though someone Mr. Capriotti knows from down in PA came on as a new partner. They also brought on the aforementioned new manager. In a video I saw from a recent networking event there, this new partner is not only interested in Centertown Social but is looking at the former Finger Lakes House as well.He did briefly address all of the stuff circulating online:“The manager resigned months ago. He wasn’t fired,” he said. He went on to say that he would have kept the manager ( presumably Dain Reese )on, and he’d told him that, but “… as things got uglier it just came to an end.”He also says that the bar staff at the time was offered the chance to stay on but “collectively” quit.Having thought about it more, I don’t understand the sudden uproar about business investment from outside the area. As the gentleman mentioned above said, the money is fungible, so does it matter, so long as someone is willing to invest in the area?

I'm beginning to think the new managing ownership pretty much told them how it was going to run and if they didn't like it they knew where the door was.Totally agree with your last thought which was similar to a comment I made on one of the original FB posts and got decimated for it. There are a lot of local businesses that have owners who do not live in NYS. The business itself is local. It's in Elmira. The sales tax dollars will go to Chemung County for their portion and subsequently Elmira for their portion.Capriotti is still part owner so why they are screaming about the grants he got (which I believe were mainly from the state with Elmira providing their incentives) to develop a business and then sold it make no sense at all. The grants were to build and develop the property, which he did and he still holds ownership.Capriotti has done a lot for this community developing properties and fixing up housing (which is desperately needed). Trying to run him out of town is just stupid. Edited July 11Jul 11 by KarenK

Stop the presses!!! LOLIt's not like anyone is relocating or commuting from Wilkes-Barre to fill bar and waitstaff jobs. Those will still be local, even if they brought in new management.I think I might remember the manager who "parted ways" from the failed R3 location on the Miracle Mile. We really tried to love that place and even came back several times after truly shitty experiences to give them another try. It had a great vibe/décor and the food was generally good. As a bartender, the guy I’m picturing seemed good on the moderate/slow bar traffic days we visited. As were other bar staff we dealt with on those days. But whoever the management was that planned and staffed events did an atrocious job. Complete shitshow with paying customers treated with some nasty, unapologetic attitudes.

July 11Jul 11 Just now, Chris said:I meant more with partial ownership changes, smart ass LOLLOL!I just meant that most of the "information" I've seen online is coming from the disgruntled former staff. So their criticism isn't really credible sources.
August 1Aug 1 The guy going by “Max Blaster” on Facebook isn’t doing this place any favors with his troll-like behavior and posts.

I almost said something to him about leaving it alone and just going about his business. Shut off commenting if necessary. They have some good stuff they are doing actually. I've been watching the videos on upcoming events. Chuck Clark Hump Night with live music. Sunday Brunch. I say give them a chance.I don't know why everyone is mad at the people that came in and took over as new partners. I mean they were offered an opportunity and took it. Everyone blames Capriotti but as I said in the past, he is just the owner holding the leases. Who ever the partner that sold out is (and no one seems to know), is who they should be mad at and even then, he had every right. These new guys came in, had a different vision and took it from there. Maybe how they did things wasn't right but we only have one side of the story- the angry ex employees
