July 15Jul 15 The potato plants have been looking pretty ragged and it finally dawned on me that I'd planted them earlier than the rest of the garden. They were ready to harvest, so I did. While I was at it, I decided to see if I could get another batch out of some of the spuds that weren't fit to eat. So I replanted them and after watering, threw a couple shovels full of compost on top.
July 25Jul 25 Not that pictures do it justice but I will be putting some pics up of the “upper” pollinator plot which i thought was going to be a bust as Chokeweed had made a return .
July 29Jul 29 I had to split pics because of the size of the bed and overall shots don’t do it justice. The Choke weed ( Wild Petunia.) didn’t get too bad of a grip and I will be out there in the Spring just waiting for them to throw shoots up as they are the first to sprout . Vinegar Dawn and salt should cool their jets ! Anyway … yeah pics . 1 and 3 are upper and lower halves , the middle pic just photo bombed its way in lol .
Saturday at 11:21 AM1 day I spent some time in the garden over the past couple of days, starting to take inventory of what is working and what isn’t.So far I’m loving the grow bags. I got one batch of potatoes from them already and after quite a stretch am starting to see new plants popping up. I think because they’re planted a little deeper it takes longer. The carrots are chugging along as well.My cucumber plants didn’t far so well. I don’t know if it’s how planted them or if they just don’t like the heat and sun, but I ended up pulling the plants. I don’t know that I’ll plant those next year, it may be easier to just buy them in bulk for pickling.I over planted the corn, so it’s just all kind of bunched up. Next year I’ll plant the rows over the entire raised bed lengthways and put the beans somewhere else.I’ve been cutting and freezing green peppers and jalapeños all along so they’re doing fine. I’ve also cut more basil so far than I think I ever have in the past.I’m trying some new things this year and I’d say it’s been a good garden season overall. I think that water tank and the ease of watering made the difference.
