Police Respond To Multiple Reports Of Gunfire In Elmira

ELMIRA – The Elmira Police Department responded to numerous gunshot calls over the weekend at multiple locations throughout the city.

On Saturday at approximately 4:00am officers responded to the 400 block of Linden
Place. Upon arrival Officers located shell casings and evidence of the shooting. Police determined that there were two separate caliber firearms used in this incident. While on scene, officers received information that an individual had come to the Arnot Ogden Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

This individual had non-life threatening injuries in the leg and back and was confirmed to have been injured on Linden Place.

Later that morning at approximately 7:20am police were called to the 600 block of West. Gray Street for another gunshot report. There, police located shell casings and noted that a residence was struck by multiple rounds during the incident. No injuries were reported and police believe that this incident was not related to the incident on Linden Place.

Then on Sunday at 8:14pm police were called to the 900 block of Grand Central Avenue for a
report of gunshots. Upon arrival, Officers were met with multiple vehicles fleeing the scene and little cooperation from witnesses or those involved. Officers on scene located more shell casings and found that a nearby business building was struck by gunfire. There were also two separate caliber firearms used in this incident according to police.

Police say all of these incidents were involving individuals known to each other and not random acts of violence. At this time, all of these incidents are under investigation. Anyone who has further information on these incidents is urged to contact the Elmira Police
