Police Respond To Report Of Gunfire In Elmira, Three Arrested

On September 1st, 2018 at approximately 8:48 p.m. the Elmira Police Department responded to the intersection of Lake St. at Linden Pl. for the report of several gun shots.

Upon arrival officers were able to ascertain that the gun shots actually came from the area of the rear parking lot at Gush’s Thirsty Bear bar. Officers located evidence of several spent bullet casings however no victims or injured individuals were located. Officers were provided a description of a vehicle possibly involved.

Within several minutes a vehicle matching this description was stopped by a Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputy in the 700 block of Sullivan St. Officers conducted an investigation with three individuals in regards to this stop and subsequently located a handgun, a loaded magazine and an empty magazine.

The Elmira Police Department arrested Lydell D. Watts, a 38 year old male of Elmira, Patrick Colter, a 33 year old male of Waverly and an unidentified 16 year old male of Elmira all with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, a Class C Felony.

The Elmira Police Department offered their thanks to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the West Elmira Police Department for assistance in this investigation.

Ha ha, looks like no one admitted to ownership of the firearm.  The great Carnac predicts there will also be a couple of charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
