Tribute For Local Musician To Be Held September 16th

Community Arts of Elmira, located at 413 Lake St, will be hosting a tribute to local musician Duvid Smering who passed away July 8th. 

According to his bio on the 171 Cedar Arts web site, Smering graduated from the Armed Forces School of Music in 1966 and performed with the 328th Army Band for three years. Attending Berklee College of Music and SUNY Brockport, he was a staff musician at S.U.N.Y. Brockport dance department for 5 years. He was a small combo bandleader in the area for over twenty years and played lead tenor sax with the XRAY Big Band performing in the Wellsboro Pa. and Southern Tier areas.

Additionally, he played and taught the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone and Bb soprano and bass clarinet. He was a certified teacher of the F.M. Alexander Technique for 25 years.

Food and beverage will be available as well as music by area musicians such as:

Piano - Dino Losito and Dave Solazzo 
Bass - Bill Kahl and Mike Solazzo
Guitar - Hugh Douglass and John Manfredi
Drums - Lou Grassi, Tom Killian and Mike Melto
Vocals- Cookie Coogan 
Saxophone- Rick Doginario and Colin Gordon
