PINE CITY, NY - On Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, Millerton and Daggett (Big Elm) fire units were dispatched to a mutual aide call in Chemung County, New York around 9:30AM.

Millerton fire crews responded with an engine and tanker, as they were directed to set up a water fill site to assist in providing water to fight a residential house fire in Pine City, NY. However, FNN leaned from witnesses that Millerton fire personnel had actually arrived at the house fire first. Nearby neighbors confirmed that Millerton fire personnel quickly took to the task of setting up and attacking the fire immediately. Within minutes other fire units arrived on scene and joined in the battle to try and save the three bedroom single family home.

Although all firefighters battled the house fire, the three bedroom home at 416 Bird Creek Road was a complete loss.

Fire crews from Webb Mills, Pine City, and Southport,, NY, as well as, fire crews from Millerton and Daggett in Tioga County, PA., were reported on scene a couple hours fighting to extinguish the flames.

According to the Webb Mills Fire Chief, no one was home at the time of the fire. FNN was told that one person lived in the 73-year-old home. The home was torn completely down to make sure all hot spots were out. It is unknown at this time if the homeowner had insurance.

An investigation at to what may have caused the fire continues. However, in most cases, when the fire damage is to this extent, investigators rarely find the cause.
