ElmiraTelegram 54 Posted March 26 On Sunday afternoon, officers from the Elmira Police Department responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Thurston St. for the report of a structure fire. Shortly after arrival Officers were advised by Elmira Fire Department personnel, who had entered the residence due to the fire, that it appeared as if there were remnants of a clandestine meth lab inside the attic of the residence. Due to this, officers secured the residence and initiated an investigation. The Elmira Police Department was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team and the Elmira Fire Department. Several items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine were secured from the residence. The Elmira Police Department arrested a 30 year old resident, Timothy J. Stilson, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd, a Class A-2 Felony. Further arrests are pending.
