Chemung County Legislator for the 8th District and Republican incumbent Peggy Woodard has won last weeks primary by a narrow margin.

According to the unofficial results of last Tuesday's Republican Primary for the 8th District, challenger Frank Cicci was ahead of Woodard by five votes. ElmiraTelegram.com declared the race, "too close to call."

However sources tell ET that after the count of absentee ballots on Thursday, Woodard squeaked out a win over Cicci 331-328, a margin of just three votes.

Woodard will face off against Democrat Christopher Callas this November.
