Police Investigating Attempted Home Invasion In Elmira

Recommended Posts

The Elmira Police Department is investigating an attempted home invasion robbery that occurred early this morning.

Police say at approximately 1:49 AM, they responded to the 400 block of Race St for the report of an attempted home invasion robbery.  Two suspects entered the residence and demanded money.  A physical disturbance ensued and the suspects fled the residence.  One of the suspects fired two shots at the residents and dropped a live round of ammunition while exiting the residence.

The other suspect exited the residence through a side door and fired a shot at another resident, striking him in the leg.  This was presumably a pellet gun and the resident was uninjured.

The Elmira Police Department requests anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Elmira Police Front Desk at 737-5626 of the Halt Line at 271-HALT.  The Elmira Police Department was assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Department as well as the New York State Police.

Police say no further information will be released at this time.
