  1. Manzaris

While Vito is retired, for years anytime I entered the door he would remind me of that one time my grandfather came to town from Albany in 1968 and hustled half of the regulars in a game or twelve of pool.
  2. Crystal City Olive Oil

Their fig basalmic is pure perfection. Garlic olive oil, tuscan herb, in the fall they have a butternut squash that is tasty. I could just hang out there and taste vinegars and oil all day long if they let me.
  3. DPW Announces Fall Work Program For City Streets

These guys truly are hard working guys. They have helped me on a project and I am so grateful to their hard work.
  4. Historical Ads - Part 2

When did it change from Dennis to Bemis?
  5. City Of Elmira

I think I was there! I know Beach Boys was my first official concert- I went with my mom, my brother, and my grandmother- and threw a FIT because I was doing some dance/wave thing and "everyone was copying me" I always thought I was younger and it was at the State Fair, although I always wondered why my grandmother would have gone, so this makes much more sense. Although, that would also make me older for my tantrum than I had always remembered....
  6. Tops Market In Elmira To Close

I read somewhere that theft could also be a factor- when there are so many repeated thefts that drives costs up. It will be an eyesore for that plaza, as it appears the City has been making some improvements on other store front facades on South Main. Just when the train appears to be moving forward, off falls the locomotive.
  7. Tops Market In Elmira To Close

I'm surprised it was South Main and not Cedar St.
  8. Gloom, Despair, And Agony On Me

I really needed to read this today, Carol. Thank you.
  9. Thus far, many have been very tight lipped about this, which tells me the authorities want to have each and every duck in a row prior to making any statements or arrests. From some of the things I have heard, from both reliable and unreliable sources, I think this outcome is going to shock a lot of people. Heights is a small town, people are talking, and yet, so many are not.
  10. Finger Lakes Wines

I should have known! I used to like it, when I was first trying out wine. Then I tasted real wine. People love it, their winery is always packed full of people having a good time. It's just not a flavor I prefer. Did I say Lemberger?
  11. Finger Lakes Wines

What's HHJ? Just don't mention Red Cat- that stuff is only good for jello-shots and rock gut!
  12. Finger Lakes Wines

LOVE THIS TOPIC!!!! Although I would certainly not start off a wine post with a sweet red, but hey, to each their own. Some of my favorite local wineries: Damiani- Seneca Lake- these guys are awesome- very welcoming, very "green"- they are one of the only grape fields that are grown naturally, without a lot of pesticides and structured vines. They have a divine geuwerziminier (which is kind of spicy, great with spicy foods) and chardonnays. Unlike Chris, I love the oak barrel flavor in my wines. Lakewood- their lemberger is to die for! Fox Run- Besides having the amazing chef Brud Holland on staff, they have some very nice rieslings and lemberger!
  13. What's sad is the number of filthy, heartless Facebook posters encouraging this. There is a serious mental health issue around here, on both sides of the "fence". Kudos toemergency personnel for talking the gentleman down.
  14. Capriotti To Purchase Baldwin Street Properties

What's great about his properties is that he charges a reasonable rate- he's not out to outprice the market. He also has an airbnb above Finger Lakes House, and has plans to bring many more to the area.
  15. Capriotti To Purchase Baldwin Street Properties

Jim is one of the greatest assets to revitalizing downtown Elmira, without a doubt! I had spoken to him about these properties, and I believe he is also looking to add a coffee shop/possible live music venue in this property as well. This man has a vision, the drive, and the capacity to bring this to life. I wish him the best!
  16. Elmira Woman Charged With Grand Larceny

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. All in one day, what an idiot. Someone had their sniffer out, and it clearly wasn't her.
  17. "Hey Listen To This"

I know, I know.... there was no pencil in my pocket, just happy to see you
  18. "Hey Listen To This"

the price of fame and fortune my phriend... I will also never forget the look on your face upon spot blow-up...if looks could kill I would be taking a dirt nap!
  19. "Hey Listen To This"

Marco Benevento is awesome! Didn't I see you at the Rongovian Embassy when he was there? Have a blast at Big Mean Sound Machine! If I wasn't going out of town I would totally be there.
  20. "Curveball" Music Festival Cancelled

Phish posted last night officially that their plan was: Refund all legitimate wristband purchases to the credit card that was used for purchase (if you bought from another person, ask them to refund you) Provide free live stream webcast of their upcoming concert Merchandise that was supposed to be sold will soon come online for a special post event merch sale, with all proceeds going to local counties effected by the flooding - Considering the band lost millions on this event, I find it very classy that they are donating proceeds to the area. Many people want to purchase merch from the concert that never was, and will likely purchase all available items. This is one avenue that the band could recoup a glimmer of that financial loss, and instead, they have chosen to give it to our area. If I wasn't a phan before, I kind of am now.
  21. "Curveball" Music Festival Cancelled

eightballs at curveball, say it ain't so!
  22. "Curveball" Music Festival Cancelled

I thought it was big joke- the curveball - and within hours they would start playing. Many have said Curveball turned into Blueball.
  23. "Curveball" Music Festival Cancelled

I saw many positive posts where folks were understanding and wanted to engage the crowd to leave supplies for the locals, even trying to coordinate a cleanup in Lodi- although that may be more trouble than the intent is meaning to be. There's always going to be that guy that is selfish. My other half was there, and worked all through the night to close down a vendor tent and assist with event needs. They couldn't make the call earlier in the week, because the water main didn't break until 2pm on Thursday. Until then, they thought they could pull it off. When the main broke, and the water was tested, they had to make the call. To have 60,000 people in tight quarters without potable water could have been a nightmare, and a much bigger liability. As much as it sucks, they made the right call. I was looking forward to going, and seeing family from out of state that traveled to attend.
  24. Sears

I haven't shopped at Sears in almost 15 years. When I was pregnant for my first son, I went there to buy a crib. Had to put it on special order, and waited, and waited, and waited. With 7 weeks to go before my due date, I checked in on the status. Come to find out, the mode had been discontinued, and nobody told me....even though it was paid for. I threw holy hell and got a floor model. Same thing happened with a toolbox- $300 model, I wanted to purchase. It was like pulling teeth. I tried two other times to take advantage of an advertisement, showed up at the store the minute they opened and was told they didn't have the item. Why advertise it if you don't have a single piece of inventory? Rain Man movie said it best- KMart sucks- and so does Sears
