Four Arrested on Weapons Charges In Elmira

ELMIRA – At approximately 12:40 this morning, Elmira City Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Ave near South Main Street. During the traffic stop officers observed the barrel of a shotgun concealed under clothing in the rear of the vehicle.Upon further investigation, the officers located two handguns, a 9mm and a .40 caliber in the vehicle.

Police later learned that one of the handguns was reported as stolen from a residence in the City of Elmira in 2019.

While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, one of the passengers fled the scene on foot. He was located and arrested after being found hiding behind a shed at a nearby residence.

As a result of this traffic stop, police arrested 18 year old Kyler J. Brenzo, 25 year old Juwan E. Brooks, 23 year old Levon D. Loyd, and a 16 year old juvenile male, all of Elmira. All three were charged with two counts of Criminal Possession Of A Weapon 2nd Degree.

The Elmira Police Department was assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
