ELMIRA – Two Elmira men are in lock up this morning awaiting arraignment after being arrested on weapons charges last night.
At approximately 7:02 PM, Officers with the Elmira Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having an invalid registration. During the traffic stop, one of the officers observed a defaced .38 special revolver in the glove box of the vehicle.
Both occupants were taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a second firearm, a 7.62mm Draco AK Pistol with a 30 round magazine as well as ammunition, and approximately $1,400.00 in cash.
Police say both guns were loaded at the time of the traffic stop and neither of the men had a valid license to possess either firearm.
As a result of this investigation 20 year old Camron Gifft and 18 year old Jordan Mann, Both persons were charged arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, a class C Felony, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a class D Felony.
