Voters Approve Plan To Sell Booth School

Voters in the Elmira City School District voted to approve the sale of the former Arthur W. Booth School, located on Davis Street in Elmira.

The school, which officially closed its doors in 2004, sits on 3.9 acres and will be sold to Andrew Mitchell and Andrew Hughes, for “an amount not less than $299,000. The former school building will be renovated and turned into a sixty unit apartment complex, as well as the possibility of a taproom. 

Voters also approved the proposed $138,440,248 General Fund Budget 477-158 as well as the proposed General Capital Reserve Fund 538-95. The capital reserve fund will not exceed $20,000,000 and will be used for the purchase of repair, bus purchases, and other necessities. 

Voters also elected Ruth Bruning, Josh Palmer, and Julie Wray to the school board.
