On Saturday, the Elmira City Police Officers responded to the parking lot of the Chemung County Family Fitness Center for a report of a man menacing others with a handgun.
According to reports, the suspect had been involved in a charity basketball tournament where he’d become upset with a decision mae by the referee The suspect allegedly then threatened several people inside with a BB gun that looked identical to a real handgun before leaving the gymnasium.

When police arrived they found 26 year old Michael Weir of Elmira sitting in his car in the parking lot. Elmira Police Officers made contact with Weir and subsequently took him into custody without incident. Officers then located an imitation Glock BB gun on the front passenger seat of Weir’s vehicle.
Weir was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd and Menacing 2nd.
